Udon noodles + Carbonara sauce = Christmas food?
Our student cafeteria has started running a special Christmas menu now in December. I tried "Carbonara udon", Japanese noodles with something that tastes a bit like Carbonara sauce. It comes with bacon shavings and a mostly raw egg. It is good, but what part of it makes it Christmas food?
The rest of the Christmas menu is two types of chicken (fried chicken is believe by Japanese people to be the epitome of Christmas food), rice with omelette and ketchup (anything red, yellow, and green is considered Christmas food), and cakes. In Sweden, none of this would be considered even vaguely related to Christmas.
