First time in a cigar club

When I lived in Stockholm, I used to do martial arts. I even ended up in some TV show teaching old historical fencing to contestants in the TV show because of that. I still keep in contact with my old teacher and we try to meet when I visit Sweden.

This time we had tapas for lunch, then Swedish pie for dessert. He knows lots of good restaurants. Recently he started smoking cigars as a hobby. He has joined a cigar club, and we visited the club together.

It was my first visit to a cigar club. They had posters on the wall showing Winston Churchill with a cigar in his mouth, which was pretty funny. Other than that, it seemed to be a calm and quiet place to relax in. There was Internet and drinks, I was told. What more could you need?

Cigar lighters

Instead of "cigars kill" or similar messages, this one says: "Cigars may cause people to take an interest in you".

This one says: "Cigars have a high risk of increasing your life quality".

There were lots of old pipes in front of the toilet

Candy

These gummy bears were huge!

American candy is quite different from Japanese candy.

I tried buying one pack of Twizzlers, but the guy at the counter said I would get two packs. Luckily, they said "Low Fat"... Since this is basically eating sugar, "Of course it is low fat!" I thought. And also, I don't think the problem with candy in general is the fat content, haha.

I did not know there was such a thing as Swedish fish.

Underwear made from candy you can find in Japan too.

Eating sweets in prison cells and cellars

In the old part of Stockholm there are many old buildings that are still being used. Since this part of town is very popular with tourists, almost all buildings have been remodeled to be either souvenir shops or restaurants.

One place I like used to be a prison 700 years ago, but is now a restaurant/cafe. I sometimes had lunch there, and the food is OK. The rooms are interesting. While killing some time before the magic bar opened, I stopped by for a piece of cake.

Since I had too much time, I stopped by another cafe which is in the cellar of one of the buildings that every tourist in Stockholm takes a photo of. There I found some nice Swedish blueberry pie.

Old sweets and fake sweets

Stuffed toys that look like sweets.

A museum I passed had a special exhibition on sweets. They sold fake (stuffed toys) sweets and really old style sweets in the museum shop.

Very old style sweets

Swedish sweets

Home made (by my mother) apple cake

To Japanese people,  European sweets are too sweet. To most of the people I know from Europe, Japanese sweets are "too sweet" too. My theory is that in Sweden (Europe) sugar is used for sweets, while in Japan they use sweet beans a lot. The sweetness that you are not used to comes through as "too sweet", so both sides think the other side's sweets are much sweeter than their own.
Home made plum pie
The home made apple cake again
The not yet made apple cake in the oven. Japanese ovens are about one fourth of the size of this (standard size in Sweden) oven, if you are lucky...
Blueberry pie with vanilla sauce. Very Swedish. Also, chai latte.
Kladdkaka ("chocolate mud cake"), very Swedish.
Carrot cake
Another carrot cake
Mousse
Sweden has lots of berries, so many desserts come with berries.
